Why we needed glasses

Our eldest stood on my wife's glasses last week. As much as I tried, I couldn't bend them back, so she urgently needed a new pair. The cheapest shop source we know of still meant quite a bill.

So I checked out a website someone from another forum had recommended to me. It certainly looked good. But then I checked as many websites as I could find, to see if I could find anything better. I couldn't.

What we found out

Our experience means I can HIGHLY recommend the website we tried.
The website is very good. You can upload a picture of yourself and see what the glasses will look like.
They are VERY competitive on price.
They have a big range of frames and lens options.
They ship worldwide FREE Smiling
They are quick. You can select a slightly dearer deliver option if you want them even quicker.

You need a prescription so you can specify what lenses you need. If you only have some of the numbers that's fine, the other numbers can be left blank and will be set to 0. The more 'weird' your eyes, the more numbers you'll have Smiling

They provide help on how to measure your eyes/head so you can pick a suitable size frame.

When your glasses arrive, if they are a little loose, assuming they are bendable metal frames, you just need to carefully bend the bit that goes down behind your ears down a little. Like this:

I had to do this with one pair of my wife's glasses. They only needed a very slight bend to change them from a little loose to OK. I think this was because we'd got one frame with a temple length a bit longer than was ideal, but the result is fine.

What we paid

This is what we paid for two pairs of glasses:

US$29.99 for each pair of frames and lenses, with coatings, but no special lenses or tints.
US$17.99 discount with coupon (this was a short-term offer which is no longer available)
US$12.00 for faster delivery

Total price for 2x pairs of glasses: US$53.99 (about £33.80 @1.60 or NZ$75.85 @0.72)

They accept credit cards and Paypal (which personally I prefer).

Delivery Cost and Speed

This is what they say:

Quote:
What is the shipping cost?
Regular shipping is free worldwide. Yes! no charges even if you are ordering from Australia. For express DHL shipping, you have to pay USD 12.00 per shipment upto four glasses. The express shipping charges may vary for certain countries depending upon DHL and FedEx charges.
.
What is the transit time with regular shipping and express shipping?
With regular shipping the glasses will take 10-12 days in transit. With DHL shipping the transit time is 5-7 days. In both cases certain conditions may apply. We are not offering express shipping from USA.
